Turn Luck into Opportunity:
Ways to Create Your Own Luck

“The amount of good luck coming your way depends on your willingness to act”

 – Barbara Sher

Access to information is everywhere. Yet, you haven’t quite figured out your next step after all the self-help books and videos.

Knowing and doing are different. Making your dreams a reality means getting off your butt to work for ‘em!

So listen up, sister. If you’ve been feeling geared up and empowered, maybe even a little lucky, you’ve come to the right place. We’re going to help you turn those ideas into tangible opportunities.

Use Your Power.

There will always be obstacles. If it’s not a pandemic, it’s a busted windshield or a bad breakup. It’s okay to acknowledge that those things suck, but don’t let it distract you for long. Like it or not, where you are right now is a result of your choices.

Don’t like your situation? Evaluate all your options… and try something new! When you think about it, that’s super empowering.

If you’re still stumped, we recommend checking out these Books That Will Change Your Life Forever. Do your homework and empower yourself with information that helps you grow. Transform your mindset into that of a Millionaire and get to work STAT.

Visualize the End Result.

In order to accomplish your goals, you need to know what they are. Take a moment to consider what you really want. Don’t you dare chicken out and think small! Anything you can imagine is 100% achievable.

Get specific! Plan out each detail of your dream life. Believe that it’s already yours and it is up to you to grab it!

Come up with a mission statement that reflects your passions and what drives you. Knowing your ‘why’ is what will keep you going when the road gets tough.

Make a Plan.

Once you have your end goal in mind, work backwards.  Think about what it will take to get there. How much does the lease for your office space cost? How many clients do you need to operate at a profit? How do you get them to hire you? Who is going to do your marketing? What are they marketing, exactly? How long will it take to create those materials?

Most importantly,  How are you going to get that money? Maybe it’s time to consign items in your closet collecting dust. Better yet, get someone else to fund your ideas! We sorted that part out for you. Click here to get FREE money for your business.

No detail is too small. Once you have your steps in order, set a reasonable timeline with milestones to help you get the ball rolling.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone.

In order to get something you’ve never had, you must do something you’ve never done. There will be a lot of uncharted territory on your journey. The only way to master new skills is to dive right in! Accept that you won’t be an immediate expert and there’s much to be learned—it’s a good thing! Tackling new challenges is a sign of leveling up.

Be Disciplined.

“We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons.” – Jim Rohn

The only thing better than hard work is consistency. Long-term success isn’t an instant gratification type of deal. The work you do now may not yield results for months, if not years. That’s why it is important to make time for your goals every single day.

Find a system that keeps you accountable—whether that’s treating yourself after achieving a milestone or sharing progress with your accountability partner. An accountability partner benefits you by sparking motivation on the days you’re ready to throw in the towel.

Learn what to look for in great accountability partner with our checklist:

  • Someone you admire
  • Responsible and reliable
  • Has time for check-ins
  • Invested in your success
  • Successful in their own life
  • Has self-discipline
  • Tells the truth (tough love)
  • Chooses action over excuses
  • Committed until the end

Expect the Unexpected.

You are going to fail, shit will hit the fan and the unpredictable is inevitable. Powering through challenges is what separates successful people from the rest.

In order to grow, you have to be prepared to overcome obstacles. A fixed mindset will blame circumstances for their lack of progress. A growth mindset works through setbacks with patience and grace, knowing they are pushing them one step closer to their goal.

It’s Okay to Change Your Mind.

Sometimes where we end up is a whole lot different than what we originally had in mind. During your journey, you may consequently discover another outlet that is a much better fit for you! That’s still a success as long as you see it through.

Your mission is to find a path that embodies your authentic self. That said, there will be times when changing course is the best decision you will ever make!

Be Open to Criticism (From the Right People).

Negative feedback is normal and doesn’t mean you suck. In fact, it could be really valuable advice that improves your strategy. But only take the criticism if it’s constructive and from someone who knows what they’re talking about. Your aunt Irma telling you that you should give up the whole kit and kaboodle to focus on having kids doesn’t count.

Don’t Take “No” for an Answer.

Anyone who’s ever forged the way to success has been told “no” far more than they’ve been told “yes.” If your vision isn’t resonating with the others, here are some things to consider:

  • Timing
  • Audience
  • Clarity on the vision

If you have it in the back of your mind that you might not make it, chances are that you won’t. But if you’re committed to seeing your project through no matter what it takes, how can you fail?

CREATE Your Reality!

Your colleague’s not luckier than you, she’s just more prepared behind closed doors. Your preparation will pay off too. Instead of asking, “What if I fail?” ask “What if I WIN!’
